Frequently Asked
Questions
Q: I need to talk to someone. Do I need to make an appointment or
can I just walk in?
A: No appointment is necessary. We will assist you as soon as you
contact us.
Q: What type of services do you offer?
A: We offer a variety of services, all of them at no charge. We
offer pregnancy testing, guidance, ultrasound, and referrals. We
also offer assistance with maternity and baby clothing, and baby
supplies, such as formula, diapers, and blankets.
Q: Are all your services really free? What’s the catch?
A: Yes, all our services are offered at no charge and are completely
confidential. We’re here to help you (there is no catch!).
Q: Do you give referrals to local doctors?
A: Yes we do. We can provide you with a number of local physician
referrals.
Q: Do you give referrals for contraception?
A: No, we do not. The CPC does not recommend, provide, or refer
single women for contraceptive. (Married women seeking contraceptive
information should be urged to seek counsel, along with their husbands,
from their pastor or physician.)
Q: Does the CPC give referrals, for those who are determined
to get an abortion, to abortion clinics? To Planned Parenthood of
Amarillo & the Texas Panhandle, or other Planned Parenthood
agencies?
A: No, the CPC is committed to creating an awareness with the local
community of the needs of pregnant women, and of the fact that abortion
only compounds human need rather than resolving it. However, the
Centers are committed to helping victims of abortion as well as
others who are hurting from pregnancy loss to become recipients
of the Lord’s healing balm.
Q: Do you give referrals to adoption agencies?
A: The CPC’s highest priority is to minister to women in crisis
pregnancies. The CPC does not become directly involved in placements
of referrals to non-licensed intermediaries, or prospective adoptive
parents; though there are several agencies to which we can refer
you.
Q: Do CPC staff or volunteers picket, or participate in sidewalk
counseling or other acts of civil disobedience?
A: No. Our staff and volunteers show empathy and compassion to those
who are in the midst of a crisis. We believe that the ability to
do this would be jeopardized if employees or volunteers were observed
by clients or others participating in such actions.
Q: Is the CPC a political agency; does the CPC participate
in state, local, or federal politics; or does the agency endorse
political candidates?
A: No, the CPC is a locally organized and funded nonprofit 501-C3
ministry that relies solely upon support of Amarillo. Volunteers
and staff are prohibited from picketing, sidewalk counseling, and
acts of civil disobedience, on or off work hours. However, this
policy does not limit individuals from participating in other political
activities during their own time.
Q:
How does the CareNet Pregnancy Centers meet
standards for charity accountability?
A: The Care Net Crisis Pregnancy Centers of Amarillo are a 501-C3
non-profit organization. Contact Us
to obtain copies of the annual nonprofit tax report (IRS Form
990) and/or information found in the annual report. |
