Generally, the father has rights in regard to the adoption of his child, which include receiving notice of the adoption and being given an opportunity to contest the adoption.

There are several things you can do to be a part of the pregnancy.

Educate yourself –– keep up on fetal development, changes in a woman’s body, types of food that provide good nutrition, how to prepare for childbirth and parenting. Go to her appointments –– even if it’s only to provide transportation. Make this a priority. This will give you a chance to see the doctor and to hear his comments and instructions. Hearing the baby’s heart beat and seeing him or her on the ultrasound is an event you don’t want to miss.
